New isn't always better!

Tanker suitability trials of the Lockheed S-3 Viking in
1991 with VAQ-33s TA-3B. Whale crew comment was:
"It took the S-3 forever to get to altitude but when it was
over, they popped the boards and fell like a cow off the
high dive."

Another modification!

BuNo 144865 started out as a TA-3B and later converted
to a VA-3B for duty with the CNO (Chief of Naval
Operations). Due to it's low number of carrier landings,
it was again modified for service as an EA-3B.

In the ditch !

VAW-13 EKA-3B (147663) is being removed from ditch at
the end of the runway at Crows Landing, CA. Blown main gear
tire caused overrun into irrigation ditch resulting in
collapsed nose gear and slight damage to engine nacelle.
Repaired on sight and flew back to Alameda.
